What is Art Therapy?
Absolutely no talent is necessary to participate and benefit from art therapy. This is true for adults as well as adolescents. Traditional art media such as drawing materials, paper, paint, and clay are available for you to explore. You learn how to deal with the inner critic and judge as you trust the creative process to communicate the rich images from your psyche that are "worth a thousand words".
Art Therapy focuses on the nonverbal language of imagery for healing, growth, and transformation of the individual by connecting the inner world of thoughts, feelings, and perceptions with the outer world of life experiences.
As you can see from the slideshow of images, the words "sadness", "freedom", "gratitude", and "overwhelmed", become so much more when expressed as an image.
